The Spanish sensation had to skip his participation in Doha in order to be ready with his body to properly play the exhibition in Las Vegas with Carlos Alcaraz and the ATP 1000 in Indian Wells. Now ranked no.646, the Spaniard played his last match on the 5th of January when he lost to world no.42 Jordan Thompson 5-7 7-6(6) 6-3 in the quarter in Brisbane (draw).
