Mirra Andreeva will get the chance to experience the Middle East swing for the first time with her direct entry into the main draw of two major WTA 1000 events this month.
The Russian talent must decide with her management which events would fit into her calendar, as she is currently unable to participate in more than 12 WTA tournaments due to her age limit. She has participated in two tournaments in 2024 thus far, and she has done well in both.
Andreeva stated last month that she plans to play more tennis at the professional level while sticking to the regulations. From this point on, she will have 10 more tournaments to choose from for the rest of the year. Additionally, it seems that she has decided on her two next Middle Eastern events.
In February, Andreeva will compete in two WTA 1000 tournaments on a star-studded field. After Jessica Pegula withdrew from both tournaments due to injury, first alternate Andreeva was given a main-draw spot. Aryna Sabalenka, the former champion of the Qatar Open, withdrew from the competition one week before its start and will not participate in the WTA event.

LWLWWWLWWW Ranked no.35 (career-high), Mirra played her last match on the 21st of January when she lost to world no.11 Barbora Krejcikova 4-6 6-3 6-2 in the 4th round of the Australian Open (draw).
Currently, during this year Andreeva has achieved a 6-2 match record.
Aryna Sabalenka in 2024
WWWWWWWWWL Ranked world no.2, the Belarussian played her last match on the 27th of January when she overcame world no.7 Qinwen Zheng 6-3 6-2 in the final of the Australian Open to win her 14th career title.
Currently, during this year Aryna has achieved a 11-1 match record. Sabalenka conquered 1 title at the Australian Open. The Belarussian was the runner-up in Brisbane.
Sabalenka is scheduled to play next in Doha (Qatar TotalEnergies Open). She will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 12th of February.
Mirra Andreeva and Aryna Sabalenka clashed against each other only 1 time. Their actual record is 1-0 for Sabalenka. When they played, Aryna Sabalenka won 6-3 6-1 in the 4th round in Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open) in May 2023.
