Federer reaches the US Open semi in style

Another day of ordinary greatness from Roger Federer that dispatches Richard Gasquet in just 1 hour and 27 minutes.

The Swiss Maestro had no problems for the entire match to always get the decisive break rather early in each set. Gasquet was never in the match and there was only 1 possible solution: Roger in straight sets. Eventually the world no.2 won 6-3 6-3 6-1.

Federer: I played a very good match

Roger was excited with his performance “I think I played a very good match, I felt the ball great from the return, it helped playing Isner in the previous round and seeing those massive serves. This is going to help me also physically and mentally save energy; I hope because of that, I can play better in the semi-finals,” 

The semis vs. Wawrinka

Roger will play his friend and compatriot Stan Wawrinka in the semifinal. Head to head is 16-3 for Federer that recently is having a very hard time against his friend.

Roger commented “It’s two Swiss in the semis of the US Open, it’s very cool for the both of us and I’m looking forward to it. I believe Stan can bring it. That’s my number one focus, that I make it as hard as possible for him to beat me. Personally I’m very happy with the where my game is at, it’s just a matter of keeping it up and adjusting to Stan now. Looking forward to playing him, because he definitely is a big test and a big challenge for me.”
