Australian tennis maverick Nick Kyrgios has made a bold prediction for this year’s Australian Open, choosing to back Stefanos Tsitsipas for the title over the favored Novak Djokovic and rising star Carlos Alcaraz.
Djokovic, aiming for a consecutive Australian Open victory, has been dominant in the opening rounds. Alcaraz, touted as a potential finalist, hopes to face Djokovic in the ultimate showdown. Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner is considered a dark horse in the tournament.
Kyrgios, known for his outspoken opinions, took to social media, specifically X (formerly Twitter), to reveal his unexpected pick: “I think Tsitsipas wins the Aus Open.”
While Tsitsipas secured a convincing win over Luca van Assche in the third round, he faces a formidable challenge against Taylor Fritz in the next match. The seventh-seeded 25-year-old will need to showcase his best form to progress further in the competition.
