Mirra Andreeva, who surprised US Open and Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur in the second round of the Australian Open, was engaged in a tough third-round match with French world No.72 Diane Parry when she bit her own arm in desperation.
Andreeva had equalized the match, winning the second set 6-1 after losing the first set by the same score, when she was behind 0-2 in the final set and reached deuce in Parry’s following service game. After a rather ugly unforced error, Mirra was caught biting herself.
