Good news for the Australian fans as Roger Federer decided for the 3rd consecutive year to start the new season in Brisbane. Roger is currently the defending champion in Brisbane.
Why this is good for Roger
This is great news for Roger for many reasons. First Brisbane proved to be a good preparation for the Maestro as it is a “light” tournament and it is played already in Australian. Second Roger can add an “easy” title to his record (does he want to break Connors’ record?). Third Roger is rumored to cash something like 1 million Euro for participating to “not-major” events. Finally Federer’s family is vaery happy to spend time in Australia.
Federer: I am excited
Roger commented “I’m excited, especially after this year with the win and the 1000th match win, it was like a picture perfect moment,” Federer said in a statement to Tennis Australia.
I’ve played there two years now and it’s gone so well. It was like a perfect scenario last time and (to reach) 1000, it really echoed around the tennis world.”
