Matteo Berrettini has been struggling for some time with all sorts of injuries. During the US Open, the Italian player had to withdraw when he ruptured a right ankle ligament to miss the rest of the season. There were doubts about his participation at the Australian Open. Fortunately, Matteo delighted his fans when he announced that he was about to fly to Australia. As soon as he landed in Melbourne, he went straight on to practice with Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Matteo Berrettini in 2024
Currently ranked no.125, Matteo played his last match on the 31st of August 2023 when he had to retire when playing against world no.97 Arthur Rinderknech in the 2nd round and the scoreline was 6-4 5-3 .
This season the Italian has a composed 14-12 win-loss record.
Jannik Sinner in 2024
Now the world no.4 (career-high), Jannik played his last match on the 26th of November 2023 when he beat world no.10 Alex De Minaur 6-3 6-0 in the Rubber 2 of the Davis Cup (draw).
Until now, during this year the Italian achieved an overall 64-15 win-loss record.
Sinner is scheduled to compete next at the Australian Open (Australian Open). He will start to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 14th of January.
Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner faced off just 1 time. Their current record is 1-0 for Sinner. When they played, Jannik Sinner won 6-4 6-3 in the 2nd round in Toronto (National Bank Open) in August 2023.
