There is fantastic news for Emma Raducanu, who will be able to start her Australian Open campaign from the main draw. The British sensation had to stay out of competition for nine months after undergoing three surgeries. On her comeback, some tennis fans were surprised to learn that the Australian Open did not grant a wild card to the 2021 U.S. Open champion. However, thanks to the protected ranking system and some players retiring,
Emma now has the opportunity to play straight in the main draw without going through the qualifications (the last one was Lauren Davis). It is also interesting to notice that the last time that she played in the qualifications of a Grand Slam, she won it, and that was again in 2021.
