Nadal. I will retire if…

When a top player approaches his 30s and that player is declining a bit there is a recurring (and annoying) question that keeps on coming back: when are you going to retire?

Federer has been coping with this for the past 5 years and his best reply has been winning tournaments after tournaments, Rafael Nadal is trying to do the same, at least until he enjoys it.

The King of Clay has won the ATP500 in Hamburg to qualify for the World Tour Finals and he doesn’t have any intention to call it a career for now, but he knows when it will be the right time.

Nadal: I do not think about retirement now…

During a recent interview Rafa commented “For sure, there is more behind than in front of my career.  “I have motivation to keep going so it’s difficult to think about not playing, But I don’t think about retirement. Day by day is my way to work.”

… he will retire only in one case

At the end of the interview Rafa said that it will be game over when he will “wake up with no motivation to improve.”

Rafa is now Montreal to play the Rogers Cup, and be sure he has just 1 thing in his mind: be the winner!
