Naomi Osaka, the Japanese tennis player who made her pregnancy public at the start of the season, hasn’t picked up a racket for a match in a while. However, she is finally ready to return to the WTA circuit after experiencing motherhood for the first time.
After taking a maternity leave, the four-time Grand Slam champion in singles is scheduled to play at the Brisbane International. She last competed in the 2022 Toray Pan Pacific Open. Speaking about her ambitious plans for a comeback, Osaka recently revealed the true reason behind her eagerly awaited return to court.
Osaka recently shared in an honest chat how she is getting ready for her comeback after giving birth to her daughter Shai. She talked about how she is feeling both happy and excited about this time. The Japanese tennis player also discussed her desire to experience more success on the circuit, especially at Grand Slam competitions and the Olympics in Paris. And the motivation behind Osaka’s apparent desire to make a comeback appears to be her newborn daughter.
She expressed her thoughts in a recent interview and said: “I’ve never been a person that’s really good at playing for myself, if that makes sense. So I kind of like the feeling of having the responsibility of having to take care of Shai and wanting to show her around the world. I kind of feel more like I’m playing for her.”
