Expressing reservations about the timing of exhibition events like the one in Macau in December, Roddick noted, “Playing exhibitions right after or before the season ends allows for more uninterrupted training. Perhaps that’s what she felt was necessary, but I can only speculate.”
Highlighting the importance of match practice before a Grand Slam appearance, Roddick emphasized, “For Raducanu to compete in the Australian Open, she’ll need match experience beforehand, preferably in one or two events. There are no guarantees in tennis; those matches are crucial.”
