Tennis Australia to make peace with Tomic

The tennis situation in Australia is quite weird. The country shares a great passion for tennis and it has probably the best line-up of upcoming players in the ATP circuit. Funny enough Tennis Australia is really struggling in containing them.

The problem with Tomic

Bernard Tomic’s behavior is causing problems since he reached the limelight (and that was some time ago). It’s even difficult to summarize his wrongdoings. Recently it seemed that the young Australian found his way back to be a “normal” tennis player, to suddenly create a mess with some unnecessary and unsolicited declarations about (how bad is) Tennis Australia during his staying in Wimbledon.

After his statement,  Tomic was suspended from the Davis Cup team (probably he didn’t lose much sleep because of that) and to make things more complicated (why not?) Bernard was arrested in Miami for disturbance.

After a couple of awkward statements from both sides (Tomic’s family and Tennis Australia), the tennis governing body decided to try to find a solution to their “misunderstanding”.

Tennis Australia: we want to bring him back

Steve Healy, the president of Tennis Australia, released some comments at opening of the new Tennis ACT Centre in Canberra “We want to offer Bernard the opportunity to raise the issues he has raised, so we can address those with him. The criticism is unjustified and he needs to understand that. The details need to be addressed to him and we to bring him back.

He has had amazing support from Tennis Australia and he needs to realize that. We want him to acknowledge and understand that and then welcome him back into Davis Cup.”

Tomic is currently in Bogota where he is defending his title.

Let’s see what is going to happen.
