Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are under fire for agreeing to a mega-money match

When it was announced that Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz would be competing in a match in Saudi Arabia with huge prize money, social media users voiced their discontent.

Alcaraz And Djokovic Shake Hands

Social media users expressed objection to Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz after it was revealed that they would be facing off in a mega-money match on December 27.

One of the most profitable single tennis matches in history is expected to take place in Saudi Arabia between the two greatest names in men’s tennis. Given that this is the match that all tennis fans are currently interested in seeing, Alcaraz may now anticipate paying a fee comparable to Djokovic’s appearance fee of over $1 million to participate in a match like this.

With victories at the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open last month, Novak Djokovic solidified his place as the world’s best player. The top two male players in the game have taken home the major titles in 2023.

This could be an incredible event with so many people watching the tennis match of the year, but some social media users have criticized the players for agreeing to play in Saudi Arabia.

Although it’s common to bring up a state’s questionable human rights record in relation to its hostility towards the LGBTQ+ community, the Saudis seem determined to make an impact in the tennis world.
