Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou commented on Stefanos Tsitsipas’s improvements in a recent interview with Metro. In the interview, Mouratoglou compared Tsitsipas’s career to the beginnings of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
What Patrick Mouratoglou has to say about Tsitsipas
Patrick Mouratoglou has plenty to share with regard to his feelings about Tsitsipas’s performance. Mouratoglou started by saying that Tsitsipas is going incredibly fast which is a very good sign in his eyes. He then went on to almost say that Roger Federer is an exception. However, Mouratoglou then clarified that this isn’t true because Federer won his first Slam late. He added that Federer was late compared to Rafael Nadal as well as others, but Rafael Nadal was very quick too.
Mouratoglou then said that it’s a sign of a person who has potential. He then said that he wasn’t surprised but rather impressed at how he could handle it. He elaborated this point by saying that after everything Tsitsipas has achieved, Tsitsipas has always been ready for the next stage.
Mouratoglou has been co-operating with Tsitsipas since 2015 and said that Tsitsipas believes so much. When asked about Tsitsipas’s long-term goals, Mouratoglou said that with the ambitions everyone has, it makes sense that the number 1s who come here spend time and leave a print. He finished by saying that Stefanos will be the next one.
Some people believe that Tsitsipas is better than Federer because he is more precocious. Only time will tell if Tsitsipas can live up to his full potential.
