Anastasia Potapova and Alexander Shevchenko, a prominent tennis couple from Russia, recently got engaged. Both 22-year-olds Potapova and Shevchenko started dating at the beginning of the year, and they have since been spotted cheering one another on at events all around the world.
On Sunday, September 24, the delighted couple posted on Instagram to share the wonderful news. During the 2023 French Open, Potapova discussed her relationship and noted the difficulty in making it work given their busy schedules. Even so, they managed to stay in touch and were frequently seen together.
Potapova expressed her thoughts in an interview and said: “Obviously, I didn’t know how it was going to work because scheduling in tennis is never easy. But somehow we’ve been able to manage it and in fact, it’s like we’ve spent every week together and we see each other a lot, which is a very good thing.”
Anastasia Potapova is grateful to have found someone who is aware of the ups and downs of being a professional athlete, and she especially values Shevchenko’s support during challenging moments.
She added: “It’s really helpful to have someone who can support you, not just on your team, but someone you’re close to. He’s someone who not only knows tennis but also wants what is best for you. Even if I play like shit, he’s still going to support me, so that’s very nice to have someone like this on the tour. He understands.”

Presently, during this year Potapova owns a 30-20 record. The Russian conquered 1 title in Linz.
Alexander Shevchenko in 2023
LLWLLWLLLL Currently ranked no.85, the Russian played his last match on the 16th of September when he had to retire when playing against world no.111 Vit Kopriva in the semifinal and the scoreline was 6-0 1-0 .
This season the Russian has achieved a compiled 35-29 win-loss record. Shevchenko conquered 2 titles in 2023 in the Tenerife 1 Challenger and the Madrid Challenger. Alexander reached the final in the Phoenix Challenger.
He is also scheduled to play in Stockholm (Stockholm Open). The main draw will start on the 16th of October.
