What a fantastic week for Dominic Thiem that wins the ATP500 in Barcelona without dropping a single set and after beating Nadal on the way.
The final
Dominic was opposed to Daniil Medvedev in the final and the Russian proved to have a rather good game on clay after reaching the semifinal in Monte Carlo and going so deep in Barcelona.
The only thrilling moment in this final was the start as Thiem was “curiously” trailing on a 0-3 scoreline. Then it was game over with the world no.5 conquering 12 of the following 13 games and win the match 6-4 6-0 in just 73 minutes.

Getting confidence
After the match, Dominic commented
“Winning this means a lot to me because it’s such a traditional and special tournament. Only great players have won here. Rafa has won it 11 times and it means a lot that Muster won it twice. It’s a big moment for me.”
This is Thiem second title of the year after Indian Wells and the 13th of his fantastic career. The Austrian is now a very hot pick for the Roland Garros.
