American teenager Coco Gauff made history when she defeated future World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday to win her first Grand Slam championship at the 2023 US Open. Gauff kept hitting goals for pleasure even after leaving the court.
The 19-year-old poked fun at those on social media who complained that she was the subject of unnecessary hype by claiming that she keeps an eye on every troll. In her press conference after the match, Gauff discussed online trolls.
Gauff expressed her thoughts and said: “I felt like people were like ‘It was all hype.’ I see the comments. People think I don’t see, but I’m very aware of Tennis Twitter. I know y’all’s usernames. I know who’s talking trash. I can’t wait to look on Twitter right now.”
