Novak Djokovic explains why he is so tough with his coaching staff

Novak Djokovic recognizes that he can be challenging for his coaching staff, but he provides no explanation for his strict mindset.

Djokovic With His Coaching Team

During the two weeks of a Grand Slam tournament, Novak Djokovic acknowledges that he can be difficult to be around, and he offers no justification for his strict approach.

Djokovic defeated American Taylor Fritz in straight sets to go to a record 47th Grand Slam semi-final, surpassing Roger Federer’s previous record. Even while his victory over Fritz was a lesson in careful execution on the court, there were also times during the match when Djokovic shouted at his box, which also included his longtime coach winner Goran Ivanesevic.

Djokovic made no apologies for his enthusiasm on and off the court as he provided an insight into the standards he sets for himself and others around him.

Djokovic stated his thoughts during a conversation: “Who is not difficult? I care about this profession and I take it very seriously. I know a lot of the other players do too.”

He further added some remarks about his coaching staff: “We expect the highest levels of dedication from our team members, as they expect from us. Overall, we are a team and we stick together. We have had some tremendous success in the last couple of years and I am pleased with where I stand. Yes, I can be difficult, but I don’t know a player who is playing at the highest level, and everything is flowers and music. It has to be challenging for everyone, for the player and the coaching staff, or there is no growth.”
