Sascha Zverev is not a happy guy right now.
The German is struggling a lot with his results in 2019 with a not-so-good 10-6 win-loss record. At the very beginning, Sascha was battling with an ankle injury and an illness, but now that he has fully recovered from both, he has a 2-2 win-loss record on clay after he lost in the 2nd round in Marrakech and in the 3rd in Monte Carlo.
Zverev getting the wildcard in Barcelona
Ranked no.3, Zverev is projected to be no.19 in the Year to Date rankings after Monte Carlo, and this means that he needs to have more points under his belt. Therefore, the German decided to compete in Barcelona where he received a wildcard.
The field in Barcelona is really strong as Zverev will join the likes of Nadal, Tsitsipas, Thiem, Khachanov, Medvedev, Auger Aliassime, Goffin, Shapovalov… etc..
