Serena, Murray pull out from Rome

Bad news for the Italian fans as Serena Williams and Andy Murray decided not to play anymore in Rome.

Serena: it’s a good decision

The world no.1 had to face fellow American Christina McHale in the 3rd round, but she decided not to compete because of an elbow injury (and that’s not nice for a tennis player).

Serna commented “We have to make the right decisions for the future, not for now. You know I hate, hate quitting, and this isn’t quitting, it’s just making a good decision.

I was really injured last year, actually, and ended up taking like five days off before Paris and practicing just a day or two before the tournament started. And entering a Grand Slam, you never want to enter it like that, especially as defending champion.

If I continue to play it could not only hurt my chances for Roland Garros but maybe for Wimbledon.I think it was a mature decision for me,” she added. “I’ve made some bad decisions in the past.”

Murray: I was listening to my body

Andy already said to be exhausted after winning Madrid and now he took his decision “I just was listening to what my body was saying, because I’ve played so much tennis, like nine matches in 12 days, also with a very physical schedule, and also a couple of doubles matches in there, as well as the whole preparation for this period. It’s been a very long three weeks for me, the longest I’ve ever had on clay in my career. It just seemed like the right thing to do.”

OH BOY.. I AM TIRED….
