Jordan Thompson of Australia needs to beat world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz if he wants to keep going in the Cincinnati Open of the ATP. Thompson defeated American John Isner on Monday in two tiebreaks to win 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-2) after qualifying for the tournament.

The 20-year-old Spaniard continues his preparations to defend his 2022 US Open championship, and Thompson will face Alcaraz in the round of 32. This will be the first time the two players have faced each other in the context of competition.
