Before this week’s National Bank Open, Carlos Alcaraz attempted to sing the Canadian national anthem. The 20-year-old, who just won Wimbledon, is stepping up his US Open preparations as the competition is set to start this month.
Alcaraz will enter the competition in Canada hoping to win his 13th championship so far in his brief career. The 20-year-old also appeared in a video that was posted on the National Bank Open’s official Twitter account as a pre-competition preview.
Alcaraz was requested to perform a portion of the Canadian national song, along with Holger Rune, Matteo Berrettini, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Tournament officials uploaded a video and stated in the post’s caption: “It sounds like these players picked the right career. Listen to their rendition of ‘O Canada.”
Even though all the players appeared to be having fun, the clip concludes amusingly with their voices being out of tune.

WWWWWWWWLW Ranked world no.1, Alcaraz played his last match on the 16th of July when he overcame world no.2 Novak Djokovic 1-6 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 in the final in Wimbledon to win his 12th career title.
This season the Spaniard has managed to achieve a 47-4 match record. Carlos conquered 6 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona, Madrid, London and Wimbledon. Carlos was the runner-up in Rio de Janeiro.
He is also scheduled to play at the U.S. Open (U.S. Open) after Cincinnati. The main draw will start on the 13th of August.
