Sloane Stephens when she won the Volvo Car Open

World no.6 Sloane Stephens is the top seed in South Carolina where she is one of the top favorites to win the title.

Sloane Stephens’ 2019

The American is not having a fantastic season. Sloane has a 6-6 win-loss record, and with the (good) exception of the Australian Open where she reached the 4th round, she hasn’t managed to win more than 1 match per event so far.

Recently, Stephens crashed out in the opener in Indian Wells at the hands of Stefanie Voegele (6-3 6-0), and she was defeated in the 3rd round in Miami by Tatjana Maria 6-3 6-2.

Sloane Stephens’ projected path at the Volvo Car open

The seed no.1 is projected to face the following players at the Volvo Car Open:

R1  – Bye
R2  – Sara Sorriber Tormo
R3  – Ajla Tomljanovic
1/4 – Madison Keys
1/2 – Aryna Sabalenka
Fin – Kiki Bertens

Sloane Stephens doesn’t have any point to defend in Charleston since she didn’t play last year, but she won the tournament back in 2016.
