Denis Shapovalov will remember this Miami Open not only for his fantastic run that ended against his childhood hero Roger Federer but also for the nice initiative of the organization to preserve the environment.
Shapovalov happy with the biodegradable stringing bags
Nowadays there is a strong (and right) awareness about preserving the environment, and it’s well-known that plastic is a huge polluter.
During the last few months, there were many question marks about the opportunity to use plastic for the stringing bags that are used in huge quantity during the tournaments and they are also quite “visible” on TV by millions of (potentially enraged) fans.
Therefore, the Miami Open had the brilliant idea to utilize biodegradable stringing bags for their players.
Denis Shapovalov was eager to applaud this effort with a nice post on twitter saying
“It’s so great to see biodegradable stringing bags being used in @MiamiOpen. I used 42 bags just this week alone, think about how much plastic we are wasting yearly. We need to see more of this on tour and try to be more #EcoFriendly @ATP_Tour #Green”
Nice to see.
