Roger Federer coaching Sascha Zverev

Roger Federer is arguably regarded as the Greatest [Tennis Player] Of All Time (GOAT). At 37 years of age, he is very well at the top of the rankings, and he has no intention to stop any soon.

The Swiss Maestro is about to play the Miami Open final against Isner, and he is considered as the favorite to win the title. Roger is achieving his success at his age not “only” because of his incredible skills and his superb fitness, but also because he is a fantastic tactician.

When Federer coached Sascha Zverev

Back to the last Laver Cup, Federer impressed on how natural he was to coach Sascha Zverev during his match against Kevin Anderson. So, is Roger willing to coach after his retirement? Not really

Why Federer doesn’t want to coach

During a recent interview at the Miami Open, Roger commented

“Possible but doubtful, just because I have 4 children and I’m happy to be home after traveling for 20 years or more, 25 years. I just don’t see myself doing it for 20 weeks of the year coaching. I just don’t see that happening, you know.”

… but if Edberg did it…

The Federer added: “But then again, I think Edberg also didn’t think he was going to coach again. And I don’t have to do it right away, either.

So I can maybe mentor more or have players come around. Who knows? I would love to stay involved in the game but probably not 30 weeks on the road.”
