According to tennis player Bianca Andreescu, Carlos Alcaraz’s 2023 Wimbledon Championship triumph over Novak Djokovic is a huge inspiration for her.
Speaking on TSN, Andreescu praised Alcaraz for how he mastered the challenge and played against Djokovic. She said: “I mean, Alcaraz is poised throughout the whole entire match. That was his first-ever Wimbledon final. Yeah, the way he handled it was incredible. He definitely deserved that.”
She further said: “I know he won US Open but Wimbledon is, it’s different. It’s like another, it’s another story. It definitely motivates me and he’s only [20] still. That’s a huge inspiration for all of us.”
Likewise, like Alcaraz, Andreescu won the 2019 US Open at the age of 19 after defeating Serena Williams in the final. Since her significant breakthrough nearly four years ago, the Canadian, who is ranked 44th in the world, has failed to claim a championship. Her progress has been seriously affected by injuries.
