Simona Halep announces she has a new coach and his name is Daniel Dobre from Romania. The former world no.1 disclosed the new partnership in Miami after she has been coachless for almost 4 months with the exception of Thierry Van Cleemput whose partnership lasted just 1 week.
Who is Simona Halep’s new coach, Daniel Dobre
It’s Simona to explain who is Daniel Dobre and why she was happy to have him (again) as a coach. The Romanian revealed
“I have a Romanian coach, someone I’ve worked with before, even during my time with Darren. His name is Daniel Dobre. We worked before Darren as well, so he knows me pretty well, and I feel happy with this decision.
I trust him, and we had a good collaboration in the past. The most important thing is that I feel good about him. We have a good connection, and it makes things easier.”
“Having a good connection” is extremely important for Simona that ended her brief partnership with Thierry Van Cleemput because she didn’t feel the chemistry even if that week she reached the final in Doha.
The Romanian added
“I need to feel a connection, inspiration. You always want a coach with the best technique, but after 20 years of playing tennis, you can’t change much technically or tactically. For me, the most important thing is the connection.”
