Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune are going to face off in what will be a thrilling quarterfinal at Wimbledon. Both Carlitos and Holger have known each other since they were young kids. There are also some clips of them playing doubles together back in the day. Soon after defeating Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune talked about his relationship with the Carlitos without hiding his admiration for the world number one. Holger and Carlitos played doubles together when they were juniors.
Holger commented: “I am not afraid [about playing against Alcaraz]. I am excited. I think he’s the same [as he was when playing juniors with him], just so much better now. I think back then he was Carlos, now he’s still Carlos.
He’s the same, just improved a lot and very quickly. When a singles player plays doubles, they want to cover the court by themselves. [When playing doubles together] we both try and did that a little bit, which is fun.
Again, it was good, because he’s amazing.”
