Holger Rune and Carlos Alcaraz are among the most exciting tennis players in the world. During a recent interview with El Pais, Holger was asked to comment about his friendship with Carlos Alcaraz and how he can beat him.
Holger commented: “The junior rivalry with Carlos was great. We played very good games. And we get along, that’s right. We confront each other a lot and push ourselves to our limits, and that’s great, because it amuses people. He already knows he is another one of those who fights until the end, and that makes everything more exciting.”
Then talking about beating Carlitos, the Danish player added: “He’s already lost a few games this year, so it’s possible to beat him, but it’s clearly going to be tough. Right now, Carlos is one of the most difficult players to beat; but, I insist, everyone is going to lose one day, so…”
Holger Rune in 2023
WLLLWWWWLW Currently the world no.6 (career-high), Holger played his last match on the 7th of June when he lost to world no.4 Casper Ruud 6-1 6-2 3-6 6-3 in the quarter of the French Open (draw).
At the moment, during this season the Dane owns a composed 30-11 match record. This year, the Dane conquered 1 title in Munich. The Dane was the finalist in Monte-Carlo and Rome.
He is also scheduled to play in Wimbledon (Wimbledon). The main draw will start on the 3rd of July.
Carlos Alcaraz in 2023
WWWWLWLLWW Ranked no.2, Alcaraz played his last match on the 9th of June when he was defeated by world no.1 Novak Djokovic 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1 in the semifinal of the French Open (draw).
Until now, during this year the Spaniard has managed to achieve an overall 35-4 match record. Carlos has won 4 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona and Madrid. Alcaraz was the finalist in Rio de Janeiro.
Holger Rune and Carlos Alcaraz faced off only twice. Their current head to head is 1-1. The last time they competed against each other, Holger Rune won 6-3 6-6 ret. in the quarter in Paris (Rolex Paris Masters) in November 2022.
