Sloane Stephens and Danielle Collins are the top seeds and the hot favorite in Acapulco.
Ranked no.3, Sloane didn’t start well her 2019 with a 4-3 win-loss record. The American crashed out in the opener in Brisbane and the second round in Sydney. Later on, Stephens reached the 4th round in Melbourne.
Danielle Collins was the big surprise of the Australian Open after she reached the semifinal coming from nowhere and playing outstanding tennis. The American was particularly striking in the 4th round when she conceded 2 games to Angelique Kerber in a stunning 6-0 6-2 win. From that moment, Danielle decided not to compete until Acapulco where she was a bit unlucky in the draw as she will face Vika Azarenka in the 1st round.
