Nishikori demolishes Ferrer. Wawrinka next

Kei Nishikori convinces again with a huge win over David Ferrer. Kei was always in control against the Spaniard to break him 6 times (the Japanese lost just 1 service game).

The match ended just after 2 hours with the result of 6-3 6-3 6-3.

Nishikori commented “I played really comfortable on the court. I had a lot of confidence going in to this match, and I was playing almost 100 per cent tennis; really aggressive, good forehand, and serving also was really good.”

Next vs. Wawrinka

Kei will play Stan Wawrinka in the quarters. In the 4th round the Swiss defeated a tough Garcia-Lopez 7-6 (2) 6-4 4-6 7-6 (8). Nishikori and Wawrinka have played each other 3 times. Head to head is 2-1 for Stan. Kei has beaten Wawrinka at last year’s US quarters in a tough 5 setter.

Nishikori: It is going to be tough

Kei is obviously worried about his next match “It’s going to be a really tough match because I have seen him play on TV a couple of matches. Even today he was playing really good. He can hit balls forehand, backhand – great backhand actually. He can hit from anywhere at the back. It’s going to be a tough match. But obviously I’m in the quarter-finals, so no easy matches coming up. Hopefully I can play another good match.

“For sure it gives me confidence that I beat him in the US Open. It’s not like I can’t beat him. It’s going to be a fun match for sure.”

The favorite: we go for Nishikori in 4 sets.
