Bouchard twirl sparks (ridiculous) sexist row

Genie Bouchard is definitely one of the hottest tennis players around, she damns strong, she has a great personality and she is really good looking and… everybody wants a piece of that.

What happened?

Genie has just demolished Kiki Bertens 6-0 6-3 in the Austrlian Open 2nd round and in the post match interview she was asked to twirl.

That twirl sparked a worldwide (and utterly ridiculous) controversy.  OK, that was awkward, but who really cares? Genie did her twirl, people were happy and that was it! Genie commented “It was very unexpected. I don’t know, an old guy asking you to twirl. It was funny,”

Serena: Life is too short to focus on that

Serena was also asked to twirl (and she refused) to comment “I didn’t really want to twirl because I was just like, you know, I don’t need all the extra attention,”

Then the world no.1 commented “Life is far too short to focus on that. Whether I twirl or not, it’s not the end of the world.”

Useless controversy

The fact that Genie is extremely good looking helps everybody, pro tennis as a whole(more attention), the media, the WTA, Nike(a lot),  and… of course…. Genie’s bank account (“very a lot”!)… and again… people are happy.

The Canadian keeps on appearing here and there nice dressed and she does no harm… so why sparking this row?  This is part of the game. The interviewer went a bit out of his way asking for that awkward twirling… is the world ending here? Let’s relax and have a life!

IS THIS BEING SEXIST?

Is this sexist?

PROBABLY SHARAPOVA IS SEXIST?
