What a nasty experience for Ana Ivanovic!
The Serbian Beauty wanted to improve her “below par” performance at slams and in Melbourne things got from bad to worse. In January Ana showed a great form to reach the final in Brisbane and she was definitely one of the favorite for the title at this Australian Open.
The world no. 5 started in great fashion the experience in Melbourne against Lucie Hradecka winning the opening set 6-1. All of the sudden Ana started to inexplicably lose her confidence to struggle in every department (her service was a disaster). Eventually Ivanovic lost 1-6 6-3 6-2 after committing 10 double faults.
Hradecka says thank you and she gets to the 2nd round where she is going to play against Polona Hercog. We didn’t see that coming.
Ivanovic: The worst thing that could happen
Ana was visibly upset to comment “It’s really disappointing. It’s probably the worst thing that could happen. But still, the year is young, and I really have to step back and work on a few things and maybe try to have a different approach to this kind of event, and try to see what was lacking here.”
Still lots of tennis to play this year…
YES ANA, THAT WAS DISAPPOINTING |
