Dayana Yastremska reaches the 2nd WTA final of her young career in Hua Hin in Saturday after beating Magda Linette in straight sets.
The match
The semifinal against Linette was pretty even from the very beginning. Magda was almost perfect on serve to concede just 5 points in total on her first 4 service games. Then the Pole imploded in the 10th game to lose the opener 6-4.
Linette started strong in the 2nd set after she broke Yastremska (1-0) immediately, but Dayana broke back soon after at love. Eventually, the 18-year-old found the decisive break again at the end of the set (8th game) before winning the encounter 6-4 6-3 in 90 minutes.
I am going to try my best. YASTREMSKA
Dayana has the opportunity to win her second career title after Hong Kong 2018. The Ukrainian commented
“I have another chance to win my second WTA title, and I’m going to try my best, but I’m not going to think about it too much.
I don’t want to put extra pressure on myself, but I’m going to try my best. Today, I was a bit tired on-court, and I definitely had a tough draw. That was my road, and I’m happy that I could pass it and make the finals.”
