Anisimova Break From Tennis

According to fatigue and worries for her mental health, American Amanda Anisimova stated Friday that she would be taking an indefinite vacation from tennis. This was her statement on social media.

“I’ve really been struggling with my mental health and burnout since the summer of 2022. It’s become unbearable being at tennis tournaments. At this point, my priority is my mental well-being and taking a break for some time. I’ve worked as hard as I could to push through it.”

Anisimova, now 21 and a winner at the junior US Open in 2017, made her Hologic WTA Tour debut at Roland Garros four years ago, unseating incumbent champion Simona Halep to advance to the semifinals at age 17 — the youngest person to do so at a major since 2006. But, later that year, just before the US Open, she lost Konstantin, her lifelong coach and father, who went unexpectedly at age 52 after suffering a heart attack.
