Amanda Anisimova and Petra Kvitova are going to clash for the second time in their career in the 4th round of the Australian Open. They are scheduled to play on Sunday at 11 am in the Rod Laver Arena.
Anisimova
Ranked no.87, the 17-year-old is having an impressive run in Melbourne where she won the first 3 rounds always in straight sets after defeating top players such as Monica Niculescu (7-6 6-4), Lesya Tsurenko (6-0 6-2), and Aryna Sabalenka (6-3 6-2). After beating the Belarussian, the American has stated that she is aiming at winning a slam while being a teenager.
Kvitova
Petra is having a fantastic 2019 so far with a solid 9-1 win-loss record. The Czech won the tournament in Sydney, and she reached the 4th round in Melbourne without losing a single set. At this Australian Open, Petra defeated Magdalena Rybarikova 6-3 6-2, Irini-Camelia Begu 6-1 6-3, and Belinda Bencic 6-1 6-4.
H2H Amanda Anisimova vs. Petra Kvitova
Interesting enough Amanda and Petra have already played once, and that was 1 year ago when the American upset Kvitova 6-2 6-4 in the 3rd round of Indian Wells. At that time Anisimova was only 16!
