Emma Raducanu is the proud ambassador of Vodafone and with the help of the prestigious communication company, she did something amazing.
While they were more than 4,000 miles away, two teenage grassroots tennis players were astonished by a one-on-one coaching session with Emma Raducanu via a LIVE 5G hologram. Although up-and-coming tennis players Sam Clague, 14, and T’nae Diamond Paisley, 12, were thousands of miles away in London at the Community Tennis Centre of the All England Club, the British No. 1 was in Abu Dhabi.
Thanks to cutting-edge hologram technology, the 20-year-old suddenly materialized on the other side of the net, shocking the kids who had no idea Raducanu would be teaching them. Sam and T’nae had the chance to ask their idol questions and take a once-in-a-lifetime hologram selfie with her as the 2021 US Open champion provided advice and technique suggestions in real time.
The unique coaching sessions were made possible by Vodafone’s 5G network, which commissioned 2,000 tennis enthusiasts to participate in research that forecasted the future development of the sport. A “multi-ball mode,” smart balls, and netting that convey extensive information about the game were among the predictions, along with the addition of holographic coaches who could appear on the court as games were being played.
Emma commented: “Coaching Sam and T’nae in the first ever 5G hologram tennis lesson scratches the surface with this type of technology, and hopefully means coaches will be able to train more future Wimbledon stars wherever they are in the world.”
