Aryna Sabalenka and Petra Kvitova are going to clash in the opener in Sydney for what will be the blockbuster match of the 1st round.

Currently ranked no.13, Aryna is projected to be ranked no.11 on Monday after she won the title in Brisbane. The Belarussian is in fantastic shape and she will be definitely one of the favorites to win the WTA in Sydney to have also a shot at the Australian Open.

Kvitova
Ranked no.7, Petra crashed out in the 2nd round in Brisbane at the hands of Annett Kontaveit (7-5 7-6). The Czech has obtained a wildcard for Sydney where she is seeded no. 5.

The H2H is 1-all. In fact, after Kvitova defeated Sabalenka in the 2nd round in Miami last year 7-5 3-6 6-3, the Belarussian took her revenge in the 3rd round of the US Open when she won 7-5 6-1.
