Boris Becker: “Carlos Alcaraz is amazing, but…”

Carlos Alcaraz is a phenomenal tennis player who has already achieved a lot, but Boris Becker cautions against overhyping his achievements. He is humble and knows how to handle the hype, but there is still a lot to do.

Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz plays a game of tennis that Boris Becker likes a lot, although he cautioned against overhyping his achievements. Carlos Alcaraz is a phenomenal tennis player who has already accomplished a lot in the sport. The Spaniard won a Grand Slam at just 19 years of age, peaked at number one, and is still only starting off in his career. Becker quickly cautioned against elevating him to the level of renowned players like Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal despite the fact that the hype train is in overdrive.

Alcaraz is a total package when it comes to tennis. Therefore, according to Becker, he’ll never have an issue with the sport. Given that many have previously blown up, he does wonder how he’ll handle everything that comes along with all of that. He is humble, which helps, but everyone blunders, as Becker is well aware, but there is still a lot to do.

Becker commented: “You talk about the young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz as the next hot thing. He’s amazing; he plays great, he looks good, and has the full package as a tennis superstar. But there’s a lot more to it than playing tennis. You have to come back, you have to defend your titles, you become a representative of your country, and you’re getting into boxes you didn’t think existed before.”
