Carlos Alcaraz And Rafael Nadal Out From Monte Carlo

Carlos Alcaraz, Rafael Nadal, and Felix Auger-Aliassime announced today are not going to compete in Monte Carlo next week. Rafael Nadal has not yet recovered from the hip injury that he suffered during the Australian Open and therefore, he is expected to be back only in Barcelona for the local ATP 500.

Rafa posted the following message on social media: “Hi everyone, I’m still not ready to compete at the highest level. I will not be able to play in one of the most important tournaments of my career, Monte Carlo. I am not yet in a position to play with the maximum guarantees and I continue my preparation process, hoping to return soon.”

Carlitos keeps on struggling with injuries, and he admitted that he was already in discomfort when he lost in the semifinals against Jannik Sinner in Miami. Carlos posted the following message on Twitter: “After two months abroad, I am happy to return home but sad because I finished my last match in Miami with physical discomfort. After visiting my doctor @drlopezmartinez in Murcia today and being evaluated, I will not be able to go to Monte Carlo to start the clay court tour.”

Carlitos is still expected to play in Barcelona, where he will try to defend his title.

Felix Auger Aliassime with a left knee injury

Unfortunately, also the Canadian player will not be able to compete in the Principality citing a left knee injury. This was his message on social media:

“Unfortunately I have to announce my retirement from the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters this year. It is an event that I look forward to each year however, I have been struggling with my left knee for the past few weeks and decided it was the smartest decision to take some time off so I’m able to fully heal and recover before my next tournament at the Mutua Madrid Open Thank you

as always for your support and I look forward to seeing you back on court soon.”
