Juan Martín del Potro, a former world No.3 and slam champion, will continue his efforts to make a comeback! After Queens 2019, the Argentine only participated in one game while dealing with a knee injury and enjoying a farewell game in Buenos Aires last year.
Del Potro, who longs to compete at his beloved US Open this summer, is eager to make another push. In the next months, Juan Martin will put his knee to the test to see how it reacts in the hopes of giving his injury-riddled career one last push. Del Potro attempted to make a few comebacks in the last several years, but all of them were unsuccessful and were limited to the practice court. The adored Argentine suffered a heartbreaking exit in front of his loved ones, friends, and supporters when he fell to fellow countryman Federico Delbonis in the opening round of the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires last year.
Juan Martin del Potro commented: “Picking up a racquet and seeing how I feel will never be a problem. I have been working on my knee issue every day. I’m leaving the comeback window open at least until the US Open, the most memorable tournament of my career. I still have plenty of time; I will start training and see how my leg responds and if I can do it.”
