Novak Djokovic and Karen Khachanov are going to clash in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship semifinal.
Djokovic
The world no.1 had a fantastic 2018 to finish at the very top of the rankings after a disastrous start of the year. In the second part of the previous season, Nole was once again the player to beat and he wants to keep his leadership well into 2019.
Being seeded no.1, Nole had a bye to the semifinals in Abu Dhabi.
Khachanov
The world no.11 had a fantastic end of the season in 2018 after he won his first ATP1000 in Paris following straight sets wins over the likes of Sascha Zverev, Dominic Thiem, and Novak Djokovic.
Karen got to the semifinal in Abu Dhabi after beating Dominic Thiem 7-6(3), 6-3. After beating Thiem, the Russian commented
“The surface is pretty fast and the balls are flying more here so I would say the serve; as soon as the guy was more inside the court I was hitting more aggressive and was winning more points.”
