No problems for Novak Djokovic that concedes just 3 games to Stan Wawrinka.
The Serbian managed to “fix” a false start when he lost the service in the first game. Then after being 0-2 down, Nole won 12 of the following 13 games to win 6-3 6-0 in just 65 minutes.
There wasn’t much of match with Nole winning double the points of Wawrinka (62/31) and Stan scoring just 6 points (of 23) on his second serve.
Djokovic: I wasn’t expecting that
Nole was also surprised by the entity of his win to comment “I definitely didn’t expect it, but hoped that I can play this way again and the match result can go this way for me. Obviously Stan wasn’t feeling his best today, made a lot of unforced errors and had a low percentage of first serves in. On my side, I just played very solid from all over the court. I think I covered the court very well, got a lot of balls back, mixed up the pace, got him off the comfort zone. That’s something that was part of my game plan.
Next vs. Berdych
Nole will now play the last match of the round against Tomas Berdych that has demolishes CIlic 6-3 6-1. Head to head is 16-2 for Nole (6-0 on indoor hard courts). That should be Nole once again.
