Carlos Alcaraz Ballkid

Tuesday night’s torrential downpour at the Rio Open was quickly avoided by a ball kid, thanks to Carlos Alcaraz. Rain forced the suspension of play, with Mateus Alves of Brazil trailing the top-seeded Spaniard 6-4, 5-3. Alcaraz called over a lost ball kid, who quickly seized the chance to join him after taking cover. Alcaraz ushered the ball kids under cover during his match against Federico Delbonis the year before, so this is not the first time he has assisted the ATP 500 event’s ball kids in staying dry.
