Sharapova sinks in Singapore

No luck for Maria Sharapova in Singapore.

The Russian Beauty lost both matches in Singapore to be doomed for the semifinals. After being defeated by Caroline Wozniacki in a +3 hours match (see article), today Maria had to bow in straight sets to Petra Kvitova (6-3 6-2).

Sharapova’s chances ended after 4 games. Maria was on a 2-all score line to lose 9 of the following 10 games (3-6 0-5). The Russian then managed to win a couple of games before losing the match. Match Stats

Kvitova: I am glad to have still a chance for the semifinal

Petra commented “After the first loss here, I didn’t really feel well and I’m just glad to win my second match and still have a chance of being in the semifinals. I think when we played the final in Beijing I found the confidence to play against her again.

“Unfortunately I lost over there but I knew that I had the game to beat her and today was the time to do that.”

Petra will play Caroline Wozniacki in the next match. She needs to win if she wants to qualify for the semifinals.
