Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz will play the Argentina Open in February, joining the likes of Lorenzo Musetti, Cameron Norrie, and Dominic Thiem.

After being forced to withdraw from the Australian Open due to a right leg injury, world number one Carlos Alcaraz will start his season on clay in Buenos Aires the following month. Due to a muscle issue in his right leg, the 19-year-old Spaniard will miss the season’s first Grand Slam tournament, which gets underway in Melbourne on Monday.

After tearing an abdominal muscle during the Paris Masters, Alcarez missed the ATP Finals and Davis Cup at the end of the previous season. He claimed to be almost fully recovered last month, but he experienced a setback when he sustained a leg injury while practicing for the upcoming season.

About playing in Argentina, Carlito commented:

“I’m really looking forward to starting my season in Buenos Aires this year, playing in a historic tournament that has been won by great champions,” the US Open champion, who is the first teenager to top the ATP rankings, said in a statement.

“The truth is I was very keen to go to Argentina, to play there, so I hope to see you all soon.”
