Stefanos Tsitsipas ran into trouble a couple of years ago when he was accused of abusing toilet breaks. That prompted the ATP to put in place more stringent rules. Stefanos Tsitsipas played his first match of the new season in Perth on Thursday against Grigor Dimitrov. The Greek sensation revealed that he used a (legal) toilet break after losing the first set to regain his focus. Indeed that worked pretty well since Tsitsipas won the match in 3 sets 4-6 6-2 7-6(4).
Soon after the match, Stefanos commented: “I went to the bathroom. I tried to regain my focus levels and kind of processed what was going on in the first set. I came back fresher and very determined, which gave me a double break in the second set, something, you know, better than I was aiming for.”

Ranked no.4, Tsitsipas played his last match on the 29th of December when he overcame world no.28 Grigor Dimitrov 4-6 6-2 7-6(4) in the round robin in Australia (draw).
This season Tsitsipas achieved a composed 1-0 match record. The Greek clinched 2 titles in 2022 in Monte-Carlo and Mallorca. Tsitsipas was the runner-up in Rotterdam, Rome, Cincinnati, Astana and Stockholm.
Tsitsipas has scheduled to play next in Australian Open (Australian Open). He will start to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 16th of January.
