UNITED CUP. Stefanos Tsitsipas confessed he was helped by a toilet break during dramatic match

Stefanos Tsitsipas played his first match of the season against Grigor Dimitrov. The Greek sensation revealed that he used a (legal) toilet break after losing the first set to regain his focus. He won the match in 3 sets 4-6 6-2 7-6(4).

Stefanos Tsitsipas ran into trouble a couple of years ago when he was accused of abusing toilet breaks. That prompted the ATP to put in place more stringent rules. Stefanos Tsitsipas played his first match of the new season in Perth on Thursday against Grigor Dimitrov. The Greek sensation revealed that he used a (legal) toilet break after losing the first set to regain his focus. Indeed that worked pretty well since Tsitsipas won the match in 3 sets 4-6 6-2 7-6(4).

Soon after the match, Stefanos commented: “I went to the bathroom. I tried to regain my focus levels and kind of processed what was going on in the first set. I came back fresher and very determined, which gave me a double break in the second set, something, you know, better than I was aiming for.”
