Alcaraz Talks About His Abdominal Injury

Carlos Alcaraz had a fantastic season that unfortunately and it with an abdominal injury. The Spanish sensation was not able to play in the ATP Finals and he will also miss the Davis Cup. Carlito was crowned as the year-end world number 1 on Wednesday. When asked to give some updates about his injury, he said that he was quite confident about his recovery.

“It is going really well. Is going really fast, as well,” Alcaraz commented. “I’m focused on recovering as soon as possible. But I could say in a week we (my team) have improved a lot with my injury.’ At the beginning of the season, I’m going to be ready; I’m going to be 100%.”

Alcaraz and his world number 1 status

Alcaraz is the youngest player in ATP Tour history to end the season ranked one in the world. Lleyton Hewitt of Australia formerly held the record. He quickly ascended to the top of the rankings after breaking into the top 10 in April, doing so in just 140 days. He has already held the top spot longer than Marcelo Rios, Thomas Muster, and Juan Carlos Ferrero combined.

At the moment ranked no.1, the Spaniard played his last match on the 4th of November when he had to retire when playing against world no.10 Holger Rune in the quarter and the scoreline was 6-3 6-6 .
