Emma Raducanu has already demonstrated that she has amazing potential after winning the 2021 US Open, coming straight from the qualifications and without dropping a single set in 10 matches. However, the British sensation had a rather below-par season in 2022. One of her issues was that she was not prepared from a physical point of view to compete on the WTA tour with consistency. For this reason, Emma decided to hire Andy Murray’s former physical trainer Jez Green.
During a recent interview, Britain’s Billie Jean King Cup captain Anne Keothavong revealed that she is amazed by how much Emma has achieved in 3 weeks while training with Jez.
“[Improving her fitness] That’s a priority at the moment and she’s looking pretty fit and strong,” Keothavong revealed. “I think the work that she’s put in over the last few weeks, when you see her you’ll see.”
Raducanu’s injury
Unfortunately, Emma has been nursing a wrist injury that has prevented her from competing for Britain in the Billie Jean King Cup. “She did everything to basically be fit for Glasgow, but it wasn’t going to happen,” said Keothavong.
“Wrist injuries are never easy, but I think this one is under control. She’s got good people around her and she’s used her time to really work on other areas of her fitness. Right now, from what I understand, it’s something that she will recover from and she’s confident of that, she just needs a bit more time and Billie Jean King Cup is too soon,” added Anne.

Now the world no.76, Emma played her last match on the 4th of October when she was defeated by world no.8 Darya Kasatkina 7-5 6-4 in the 1st round in Ostrava (draw).
At the moment, during this season the Brit owns a compiled 17-19 match record. Emma Raducanu’s best accomplishment of the year was reaching the semifinal in Seoul.
