Iga Swiatek won her 11th career title in San Diego after defeating Donna Vekic. Unfortunately, the Polish player was targeted by some fans for waving (again) her hands at the net to distract her opponent in the second set. Iga was caught making the same move in previous matches and according to many, that is unsportsmanlike conduct and it should be penalized as a hindrance.
Iga was apologetic in a post on Instagram when she congratulated the Croatian player for her week. “And congrats @donnavekic for your amazing run! And sorry for waving my hands at the net,” said the world number one.
Something similar happened during the US Open when she was facing Lauren Davis. Fans didn’t like it either.
This was blatant hinderance from Iga and I hope she learns from this and doesn’t try something like that again.
Really not a good look at all. pic.twitter.com/qqn4s1bipu

Sorry to geek out, but I’m going to change my mind. I think it is deliberate hindrance.
Iga does do a doubles fake poach. But it is the third of three successive movements. The first movement (a kind of limbs out jump) looks like an attempt at hindrance, as does the tap pic.twitter.com/DmeGmrMkT2
